Coming Soon to Rock Band DLC: Every Indie Band EVAR
Harmonix dropped yet another bomb in the music game wars today. Introducing Creators.Rockband.Com, Harmonix revealed their plan for more DLC. Musicians and labels will be able to get Authoring tools to make Rock Band tracks, publish them through a peer approval process, and once approved, on to XBLA for download. The service will go through a closed beta period this summer before opening wide in August.
While I’m sure some jackhole will attempt to make EVERY METALLICA SONG EVAR on there, it sounds like only rights owners will get published. Regardless, expect to see a bunch of indie songs on first, followed soon by day-and-date album releases if the major labels start throwing weight behind the idea. Also, if you want to be art of the peer review process, it sounds like you’ll just need an XNA Creators Account. So, expect a lot of those to be sold shortly as well!
So, what do you think? Minor feature or is Activision shitting bricks in a corner somewhere? Sound off!
