Today, Microsoft unveiled that the Zune HD, a device teased for months, is coming later this fall. Since we aren’t a gadget blog, we’ll hand you off to Gizmodo, who busts out the details. Essentially, the new Zune is Microsoft’s answer to the iPod Touch, replete with Web Browser, Multi-touch screen, and a sweet looking OLED screen. On a side note, I’m impressed: on looks alone, this may be the sweetest looking piece of hardware Microsoft’s made.
But we’re a gaming blog, what does this mean to you? Good question! Also announced today was that the Zune Marketplace (nee: iTunes like marketplace for video and audio) would be replacing the Xbox Live marketplace. In short, let speculation begin! Does this mean multi-device video rentals/ownership? An all-you-can-eat download service for your Xbox? The ability to link and chat with friends on XBL? Downloadable Zune games? Dunno! Fortunately, Microsoft’s E3 conference is less than a week away, so we should have these answers (and more!) soon.
