For our first (to my knowledge) XBLA review, I got some hands on with Peggle, a game that I admittedly had never heard of before its release. I went in with high hopes however, having heard nothing but great things from people who weren’t living under a rock. My verdict? Read-on, my peeps.

Just one of many well designed levels.

Just one of many well designed levels.

There haven’t been too many XBLA  games that have honestly been worth their price tag. Then thankfully Peggle came along to finally make me feel like I spent $10 (800 MS pts) on something good. This game is addicting and fun, and it’s something almost anyone at any age can jump right into and enjoy. Whether you’re 6 and just want to play with unicorns and sunflowers, or 34 and want to beat every challenge and best every high score, you will enjoy this game on some level.

The Adventure mode is 55 levels, but once you finish that, you have a lovely 75 Challenges to do. So the game has plenty of substance, with DLC coming in the future as well. You can also just pick any level you’ve finished, and try to best your score or wipe out all the pegs for one of the hardest achievements an XBLA game has seen in a while.

Lastly there’s multiplayer, which is equally as fun. 2-4 players playing the same level trying for the best score is very fun and adds even more bang for your buck. Admittedly I planned on playing a few games with fellow SHR blogger Mutterfudder the other day, only for it it turn into a 3+ hour marathon of bouncing balls with a couple other friends. Good times.

Hi Rez: Everything about it. Addicting, fun, anyone can play it, Beethoven.

Low Rez: Wish it had come out sooner.

Verdict: Epic win for XBLA and you.

  1. this game is awesome but i don’t like how you and mutter gang up on me just so i come in last and have to drink my milk in a dirty glass

  2. Wow, that’s… an awesome picture! :)

Peggle rules. I can’t believe how much I enjoy the multiplayer on this game. I hope the DLC brings the maps from Peggle Nights, as there’s a bunch of classics in there too.

  3. [...] Peggle peggle peggle. Are you sick of Peggle yet? No? Good! I know that we’ve reviewed Peggle in the past for XBLA, but now, Peggle is back and it’s in your pocket. Sure, there’s not much changed, but [...]
