Ah, yes… the venerable PlayStation 2. With easily 100 games worth playing on the system, there’s a ton of good reasons to own one. And now, Sony announces that they’ve dropped $30 from the system price to position it at an attractive $99.

Honestly, does anyone care right now? The PS3 is out, and about half of them can play PS2 games. I guess this would be a great deal for anyone who DOESN’T have one, but I don’t know anyone like that. But if you fit the description, well… there you are.

  1. It’s not a bad investment if you’re a single parent with an 8 year-old that doesn’t know any better. Until his schoolmates mock him for not having a 360 or PS3.

Just think, in 3 years the PS3 will be down to a reasonable $299.99 so even the poor people can play it’s massive selection of titles. (Ouch, my Sarcasm App on my iPhone just exploded)

  2. I think that’s pretty sweet actually. There’s a lot of great games for ps2 and I would imagine you can get them used for pretty cheap these days.

  3. i think they should drop the price for the PS3, who cares about last-gen consoles? of course there are lots of games for the PS2 but they are also compatible to the PS3
