So at this week’s GDC, Infinity Ward announced that Modern Warfare 2 is indeed coming this year. As a matter of fact, it’s coming November 10th. So, not much more info than that at the moment, but hey, it’s something to circle on the calendar. I’m sure Game Informer probably has a blowout issue coming in the next months, or something.
What is more interesting is that all of the branding for the game is called “Modern Warfare 2″. As in, not “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″. One has to wonder if Infinity Ward is ditching the CoD name going forward? It certainly wouldn’t be the first time IW ditched their franchise name (they were founded by developers of the good Medal of Honor games before EA decided to kill that franchise with annual editions). However, I’m guessing that Activision and IW will take the brand recognition to the bank.
